Implementation Intention

The first strategy is implementation intention.

What this means is that you give the skill or hobby you want to learn space and time in your life. You need to actually design it for yourself.

Set a time and place where you will learn this skill and you will feel obligated to do it.

Take the instance of a 9 -5 job. No matter how tired you are, you have to get to work on time and perform your duties. Another instance is going for an interview. A time and place are set and you show up because it has been given a place and time in your reality.

So, if you have the intention of learning how to code, set a time maybe 5:00 PM after work in the study.

Try it you will be amazed.

Chunking

Chunking is the next trick you can use to improve how you learn any hobby.

Break big projects into smaller tasks so that it will be easier to tackle one at a time. Doing this gives your brain the ability to focus and avoid overwhelm.

The main reason why for example most fail to learn how to program is that it feels complex and daunting to even dive in. However, breaking it into smaller concepts and tackling them one at a time will free your brain to focus.

If you want to cultivate a new skill, use existing habits to prompt yourself into the new habit. For example, if you have the habit of watching Netflix, tell yourself you will watch your favorite movie after you have finished your mini-coding project.

Design your new habit by bundling it with other habits you have will make learning easier and fun as well.
